Originally from Lakewood, NY, Rick earned both his B.A. and M.A. in History and Social Studies from SUNY Fredonia. A former high school history teacher and soccer coach at Westfield Academy, he started his career as a financial advisor at Waddell & Reed in 2006. In 2009, Rick accepted the position of ‘Premier Relationship Manager’ at HSBC bank, where he worked in the Jamestown, Gowanda, Westfield, and Du-nkirk/Fredonia markets. His role was to be the visible wealth management expert in each branch, and to work collaboratively with the financial advisor and other branch staff to recognize, develop, and deliver high quality investment strategies and retirement planning solutions to customers of the bank.

In 2012, Rick and business partner Jack Cuddihy formed Andersen Cuddihy, Inc.  Rick sincerely believes in taking a holistic approach to wealth management and financial planning and therefore spends a considerable amount of time attempting to understand the unique needs of each client well before any recommendations are considered.  He is proud of the deep and long-lasting relationships formed with his clients.  In 2019, Rick earned the ‘Chartered Retirement Planning Counselor’ designation from The College for Financial Planning.  Rick holds Series 7, Series 66 through LPL Financial, and New York State Life Insurance Licenses.  

Rick lives in East Aurora, NY and is married to Tricia.  They are the proud 'owners' of a successful blended family.  Rick's daughter, Kailah, is a Registered Nurse in the ICU at Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester, NY, and his son Daniel is an Airman 1st Class Intelligence Analyst stationed in Ramstein AFB, Germany.  Tricia's oldest, Sofia, studies Psychology at Duquesne University in Pittsburgh, PA, and Leah and Nick are accomplished students at Iroquois Central High School. Rick is passionate about physical fitness and backpacking.  He has backpacked thousands of miles in the wilderness, climbing mountains in the high peaks region of the Adirondacks, as well dozens of mountains in Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont and Tennessee.  In 2021, he successfully solo thru-hiked the 150 mile Northville-Placid Trail.  He is an avid reader, life-long learner, and enjoys spending time with his kids and traveling with his wife.
